The Foodie – Masala Dosa

Dosa is a Famous South Indian Dish, It has lot of varieties like Set Dosa, kal Dosa but we are going to deal with Masala Dosa.

Dosa is basically from Udipi, Karnataka and it spreaded to all over south India, every where there is a different style. Dosa is basically a crepe made from rice and black lentils

History of Masala Dosa

It is basically dosa stuffed with baked potatoes and spices served with onion and coconut chutney.

Initially only potato curry was served , most of them who cooked were Brahmins for some onion was forbidden food., but when potato shortage raised the mixed onion and created subji and to hide it they kept inside dosa, thus the day of Masala Dosa is born

One Day the Mysore Maharaja hosted a big festivals and at the end of it there were lot of foods left wasted. So he order all the Chefs to think creatively and make sure no food is left waste, and the brilliant chefs came up with this unique recipe and it was a no doubt instant hits, they stuffed the plain Dosa with potato and spices and lot of Ghee too

Is Masala Dosa Healthy?

One should ask this before eating this, if you are taking in home then fine but when you eat in hotels make sure you avoid this due to its high Ghee content and potato content and the coconut chutney is also not so healthy, but rich in carbs and gives lot of energy. Ideal for breakfast after a nice workout

Blog wars – Episode iv – Nestle’S bABY hORROR

Blogwars Nestle_ch1

A Long, long ago, in planet Earth . . .

Planet Earth was once a beautiful place in the whole milky way galaxy, until human race conquered it.

Human Race has always exploited the weak in its own race and others. Today we are going to see a similar example.

NESTLE – its a Swiss based international food brand which market Baby food products too.

Lactogen

What Baby Horror did NESTLE did will be the question running in everyone’s mind?

NESTLE’s market their Baby food formula very aggressively, indeed they marketed as if its a substitute food Breast Milk in very poor countries, their marketing was in such a way it created feeling among people in the poor country that its the best, since they don’t have much food for them to eat and they thought Breast Feeding will not be sufficient enough for the babies, but ironically that was not wrong

The following things happened in

  • The Direction of use was written in English, most people in poor countries does not have education, but their marketing tactics made them to buy the product,
  • Since the Direction of use was not clearly understood by the village people, the baby food (cerelac or lactogen ) will be often mixed with poor quality water and often don't have the understanding to boil it first, which has brought child’s gut or digestive track directly to deadly bacteria resulting in diarrhea, dehydration etc
  • More over since NESTLE food was very costly, people used to add little baby food and more water, that leads to more health issue for the baby
  • Eventually Babies lost the strength, breast feeding provides them immunities to various dieases

A study in US says that if the baby has inflammation in guts it would be easy to get infected HIV, if the mother has HIV AIDS+, this made worse in African countries like Malawi,

In 1977 NESTLE Boycott movement was started in US, which spread across Europe in early 1980’s even WHO has claimed that every year around 1.5 million child dies of because of lack of breast feeding,

Note BabyMilkAction Site

Nestlé is targeted with the boycott because monitoring conducted by the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) finds it to be responsible for more violations of the World Health Assembly marketing requirements for baby foods than any other company (see the codewatch section for profiles of the different companies to target their malpractice).

As UNICEF has said:

"Marketing practices that undermine breastfeeding are potentially hazardous wherever they are pursued: in the developing world, WHO estimates that some 1.5 million children die each year because they are not adequately breastfed. These facts are not in dispute."

So, what happened in INDIA, when NESTLE was launched .INDIA was also one of the poor countries targeted. In INDIA too baby food formula is considered as a very prestigious practise, Parents felt proud when they bought these Packaged BABY FOOD Formula at that time

One example in a Tamil Move 6 mudhula 60 vari, its rajini movie, in that he will be very poor, but in spite of that his wife forces him to buy baby food product, I am not blaming any one here, their Marketing has made people to think that giving Packaged BABY FOOD Formula as a prestigious and healthy,

but the truth as per WHO is many children died, since their parents felt we are providing very high quality Food and it will improve their child’s health rather than breast feeding

Eventually Packaged BABY FOOD Formula like cerelac, farex, lactogen has become a default now a days, but in olden days the thing was very bad

Still the NESTLE boycott was going on and its carried out by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA),

So kindly don’t go by any product by advertisements and popularity or brand, do self analysis before going to buy anything

For Milking Mothers, Please take a note follow WHO’s Guidelines

Blog Wars – Windows xp vs vista vs 7

Blogwars Ep3

A Long, long ago, in OS Space. . .

Microsoft becomes victim of its own success after the release of Vista, it required a huge hardware upgrade and still the performance is lesser or equal to XP, the question araised why to go for VISTA when XP is there, Microsoft's struggle with OS Space continues until the arrival of Windows 7

Before the comparison read this Note :

"Before I go any further I feel I need to make a point, and make it clear. The builds I’m testing of Windows 7 (build 7000 and 7048) are beta builds, and as a rule beta builds are usually more geared towards stability than performance. That said, the performance of this build should give us a clue as to how the OS is coming along"

Test Hardware

  • An AMD Phenom 9700 2.4GHz system fitted with an ATI Radeon 3850 and 4GB of RAM
An Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2GHz fitted with an NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS and 1GB of RAM

The rating starts from 1 to 5, like 1-Very High, 2- high like that and the scores are summed and the lowest in the winner

AMD bench Mark

Intel Bench mark

Finally

As mentioned before, I am saying again, BETA is tested only for stability and not for performance, but windows 7  performance is very very impressive.
Clearly Windows 7 is the winner in this wars. Lets wait for Release Canditate verision (RC) of windows 7 for real performance benchmark. So guys keep your fingers crossed. Microsoft will come back with a bang to win the OS Space again with windows 7
